The Evolution of Fat Transfer

As people age, they lose volume in their face and other body areas. Autologous fat transfer involves removing fat from one part of the body – often via liposuction – processing it and then re-injecting it into another area of the body. To better understand the process of fat grafting for volumetric restoration and how it works, Aesthetic TV host Michael Moretti spoke with leading physicians Sydney Coleman, M.D., a New York City plastic surgeon, and pioneering scientist who developed and popularized many of the fat transfer techniques used today; Tess Mauricio, M.D., a dermatologist in Beverly Hills, Calif.; and Robert Troell, M.D., a cosmetic surgeon based in Las Vegas, Nev.
